The I/O shield is a piece of sheet metal fitted to the mainboard, which closes the spaces of the rear external connections of a mainboard and is installed precisely in the recess provided for it in the server housing.

The shield ensures electromagnetic shielding and prevents the penetration of objects & dust.

Since the external connections vary per mainboard, an I/O shield adapted to the mainboard is required.
